It was love at first site for the owners of this craftsman bungalow style home originally built in 1925. While the home was oozing with charm and character, it lacked much needed family and entertainment spaces. The homeowners wanted to preserve the look and feel of the home while expanding their family and entertainment spaces, updating the home with modern conveniences and adding an outdoor covered terrace.
On the main level, most of the front half of the home is original including a formal parlor and dining room. A butler’s pantry connects these spaces to the fully renovated kitchen and breakfast room. The kitchen was outfitted with top-of-the-line appliances, and updated with luxurious materials, fixtures and finishes throughout including zinc countertops. A large sliding window above the sink opens wide to connect the kitchen to the covered terrace for ease of entertaining and conversation.
The kitchen and breakfast room flow easily into a large, open family room with fireplace, comfortable seating, wet bar, and billiards / shuffleboard area. A set of antique doors original to the home was reclaimed and used to connect the family room to the adjacent covered terrace. The doors open wide to the covered terrace / outdoor kitchen that overlook the pool, hot tub and koi pond.
Also on this level, an existing family room and craft room were converted into a luxurious owners’ suite formerly located on the second level of the home. The suite is complete with spacious “his” and “her” closets, beautiful bath with soaking tub and walk-in shower.
The end result is a beautifully updated home that still maintains the character and charm the homeowners were initially drawn to, but updated to accommodate their family, love of entertaining and active lifestyle.
